The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG® E-Cell has taken off its wheels and jumped into the water to become a Cigarette AMG® Electric Drive Concept racing boat. The boat is powered by an all-electric motor that puts out an incredible 2,200 horsepower and is being called the world’s most powerful electric drive powerboat. The top speed of this amazing powerboat is over 100 mph and all of its power comes from batteries.
Mercedes-AMG® and Cigarette Racing have partnered up to produce the Cigarette AMG® Electric Drive Concept. The racing boat is 38 feet long and can be recharged, dockside, in seven hours using two 220-kW chargers. This is the first time Mercedes has put its EV technology into a watercraft.
Mercedes-AMG® and Cigarette Racing showed off the Cigarette AMG® Electric Drive Concept at the Miami International Boat Show which started February 14th, 2013. The concept powerboat integrates many components from the SLS AMG® Coupe Electric Drive which also happens to be the world’s fastest and most powerful electrically driven production vehicle.
